The Royal Drummers of Burundi, commonly known as the masters of drumming, were in 1960.

This is a bump originally from Burundi, they are found in Gitega, a place called “GISHORA”. Their  performances are part of ceremonies such as the Government event, Wedding,Sports event and the crowning of the king.

“KARYENDA DRUM” is a holy drum that represented the “MWAMI”(KING) during his leadership. These royal drums are made out of hollowed tree trunks covered with animal skin (COW).

Although these drums are not similar, there are different types of them in the team. “AMASHAKO” these drums provide a continuous beat and  “IBISHIKISO drums”  which follow the rhythm established by the Inkiranya.
